Hi, I’m Mariam. I’ve been a horsewoman for over 30 years and I’m the person behind Horseaholic. I’ve trained professionally, bought and sold horses, rescued and rehabbed horses, bred horses, shown horses, made some really good decisions and made some pretty expensive mistakes. At this point I’ve dealt with more weird horse problems than I can remember, and weirdly, those are usually the things I find the most interesting.
Give me the horse nobody can quite figure out, the medical mystery, the behavior that doesn’t make sense, or the situation where three different people have given three completely different answers and I’m probably going to go down a rabbit hole trying to figure it out. That’s just how my brain works. I want to know why something is happening, whether what we’re doing actually makes sense for that particular horse, and whether there’s another option we haven’t considered. Sometimes I’m right. Sometimes I’m completely wrong. Sometimes I spend a ridiculous amount of time researching something only to end up right back at the answer I started with. That’s horses.
Horseaholic is where I share all of it. The horses I’m dealing with right now, things I’ve learned over the years, things I’m just learning now, what worked, what didn’t, the stuff I wish I had known before I spent the money, and probably a few opinions because after 30 years in the horse world, I definitely have those too.
My faith is part of my life and it’s going to show up here too. I believe God has been guiding this journey even when I didn’t know it. I believe we’re called to be faithful stewards of God’s creation, and that includes the horses He puts in our care.
I’m still just as horse crazy as ever. If you are too, welcome to Horseaholic.

A Little More About My Background
One of the areas I’ve become especially passionate about is holistic equine wellness and nutrition. I love looking at the whole horse and digging into what might be going on underneath the obvious problem. Nutrition, gut health, rehabilitation, alternative therapies, soundness, behavior and how all of those things can connect absolutely fascinate me.
That curiosity has led me to continue my education and become certified in ozone therapy, laser therapy and cryotherapy. I’m not interested in using something just because it’s considered holistic or alternative. I want to understand why it might help, when it makes sense and when it doesn’t.
Have a Horse Question You Can’t Quite Figure Out?
Sometimes it helps to have another experienced horse person look at the whole situation with you. If you’re dealing with a horse related decision, a problem you’re trying to sort through, or you’re not quite sure what questions you should be asking next, you can book a private equine consultation with me.
